The holiday season is officially under way! Here in Highlands Ranch, and the metro Denver area in general, there is so much to do and see during the holidays. Randy Johnson’s Santa Day is quickly becoming one of the can’t miss annual holiday traditions along with the lighting of the City and County building and the Parade of Lights!

The 3rd annual Santa Day at State Farm takes place this year on Saturday, December 4th from 12pm-3pm. I encourage everybody to stop by! Be sure to bring your camera, too. There will be photo opportunities with Santa! In addition to Santa there will be fire truck rides, live reindeer, free refreshments, a balloon artist, drawing for prizes and giveaways, and a whole lot of fun! Best of all it is completely free.

In addition to the festivities donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for Food Bank of the Rockies. Last year’s event collected over 700 pounds of food for the food bank. The goal this year is to top 1,000 pounds. The food drive is a large part of what makes this event great.

I look forward to meeting all of you there. I know together we can not only meet the goal of 1,000 pounds but shatter it!

Shea Homes will be introducing their ‘Spaces’ homes to Highlands Ranch. The homes will be built at the southwest corner of Highlands Ranch Parkway and Fairview. According to Shea Homes, the sales trailer (already on site) will open on Saturday, October 9th at 10 AM. They expect the models to be complete in early January 2011.

I am really excited to see the Spaces homes come to Highlands Ranch. They will have all the quality and design you would expect from a Shea home. I am most excited about their pricing. The pricing will be in the $200′s. I expect that to be in the low $200′s maybe $220,000.

This will no doubt be a fantastic opportunity for first time buyers to purchase a single family residence in Highlands Ranch. If the Reunion Spaces homes are any indication, these homes will sell fast.

What can I say? I am a sucker for a good deal! When I make a purchase of any considerable size, I always do my research and seek out the best deal. In this economy I think it is safe to say everybody is looking for a good deal. Well…this month’s deal can’t be beat (at least I haven’t found a better deal in 6 months of searching)!  So what’s the deal?

This month’s deal is big, beautiful trees for $100! Any tree in the nursery field is $100. I’m not talking about the little midget, starter trees you might find at the big box stores in early spring. These are decent sized tress but they aren’t so big that it would be too hard on the tree to relocate. You’ll find a wide variety of trees including: maple, ash, birch, spruce, pine, and more!

To make the deal even better, the nursery will deliver and plant any tree for an additional $140. There are additional savings if you purchase multiple trees (inquire for details). This deal was too good to pass up! I purchased a beautiful 12 foot Colorado Blue Spruce and can’t wait to see it delivered and planted. I saved over $600 easily. So where can you get this same good deal?

Today’s Nursery in Parker (our featured business of the month) is where you can find this incredible deal. The tree field with the $100 trees is located off of Chambers Rd and Newlin Gulch Rd (a couple miles south of Lincoln and Chambers). I have received a lot of questions the past couple of weeks about the work taking place in the Hearth. If you have travelled along McArthur Ranch rd lately, or through the Hearth, you probably have noticed the construction work taking place in the open space area.

Turns out our trail system is growing…again! The new trails will connect the homes on the southside of McArthur between Valleybrook and Heatherton roads and end at the Rock Canyon / Rocky Heights campus. The trail will be a welcome sight to students who walk to school. The work is expected to be completed in September.
